‘The Shadow’ from Kulture
Vulture Productions
In the climate of economic downturn, 32-year-old Tim
Andrews is fired from his job as an advertising executive.
And as if that is not enough, his girlfriend Rachel
suffers from severe neurosis – a condition that worsens
by the day.
Tim’s brother Wayne suggests she attends a self-help
workshop run by Dr. Tara Hawthorne (a trained psychiatrist).
Although a total sceptic, Tim agrees out of desperation.
This decision changes his life in a way he could never have
imagined…
Rachel’s personality starts to change dramatically.
She becomes much more self confident, but also evil and calculating.
A series of sinister events befall Tim; he is attacked in
a nightclub followed by his brother committing suicide –
leaving him to wonder if this is real or a figment of his
imagination. At Rachel’s 30th birthday party, Tara
decides to do a word association test on Jeff (Tim’s
work ex-colleague) for fun, highlighting the cracks in Tim
and Jeff’s already disintegrating relationship.
Is Tara the evil force behind all that has happened to Tim
and Rachel? Or is it self-induced? Tim seeks the help of
his brother and his friends – but only one person is
convinced his life is in danger.
The film builds towards a terrifying encounter in which
Tim is ambushed in his own flat. It is here that he comes
face to face with ‘The Shadow’- the darkest side
of the human psyche. This is a true study of the nature surrounding
evil and morality, and what all human beings are capable of. |
